I Was Longing to Work With Priyadashan – Irrfan Khan

<img alt=""red chilli"" src="http://farm1.staticflickr.com/43/92524726_553f6aa187_m.jpg" width="160"/>
by iambents

Irrfan Khan, who just won the Actors Guild Award for Slumdog Millionaire together with the other cast and could also celebrate 8 Oscars for that movie, came down to London on Friday together with Shah Rukh Khan and Lara Dutta to promote his latest release ‘Billu’.

The author met him at a press junket held by the distributor Eros International in central London, where he was explaining why he is not treading the paths, which are already there but is going his own way and what was tricky about playing the ordinary simple guy Billu Bilas Pardesi.

Q: How do you feel after the release of Billu?

Irrfan: I’m really excited. I’ve been in this industry for a long time; I’ve been doing all kind of stuff. I’m supposed to be not the regular guy for the film, so they considered me because you know I’m not Bollywood kind of actor, but I need to make my space, I’m doing it since many years and am doing all kind of interesting films… Haasil… if you catch hold of the DVD of Haasil this one has a mind-blowing story… there is Maqbool in which I played the role of MacBeth… The Warrior… The Warrior is not an Indian film it’s an English film.

So I’m being around doing all kind of stuff…to creating my own space because I’m not treading the paths, which are already there. I’m trying to take my own path and that takes time.

For me this film is a combination of many things; it is supported by a big production house; it has Shah Rukh Khan as star it guaranties kind of commercial. They are giving me a role, which I would have loved to play, which is very interesting role and in a sense it’s a tricky role. Through the whole film you should not let the audience gauge what kind of person he is. Whether he is telling lies, is he honest? Is he rascal? Is he playing games? You actually have to keep them going and still have to make him likable. You should find him nice like ‘this is a nice guy but is he true’? So that’s a very interesting premise.

And then the team! Priyadashan! I was longing to work with Priyadashan for a long time. I used to check my messages ‘no message from Priyadashan’. So suddenly out of the blue I was at a function, which was held for ‘The Namesake’ when I got a call, but there was no number. So I didn’t pick up. Then again came a call, but I didn’t pick up. So I went to Mira (Nair) and asked ‘did you call me’? And she said ‘Shah Rukh Khan was trying to get in touch with you because he has a story’ she said ‘Shah Rukh Khan was trying to call you’ then I connected those two calls.

So when I met him he is a fantastic man. He is a person with whom one feels easy, he is not carrying his baggage of being a superstar and he is a superstar. He is realistic about it, being the superstar and the person he can distance that stardom and can see it from a distance, which is a great work.

He gave all the leave, the way he worked the film, the way he positioned the film and the way he and his own status…he reduced his space in the film and had given us the space. So I was really fortunate that the director, producer, all the actors worked towards the story. Almost what in Bollywood happens is there are projects, they don’t care about the story, so everyone tries to… you know one-upmanship that it becomes a very non-enjoyable experience. So this was fantastic I was fortunately part of this film.

Q: Did you prepare yourself somehow for playing the character of Billu? Did you learn haircutting or live in a village for some time?

Irrfan: To begin with Billu being a barber is incidental it is a story of a common man. He could have been anybody so the profession is not really necessary; the film was not dealing with it. The film is based on some story and I asked Priyadashan should I see that earlier film? He knows what kind of actor I am, that I’ve done those international films and he was afraid I would come with some preparation. So he told me ‘please don’t prepare, please do no preconceived things, please come on the set keep it a clean slate and then I’ll guide you’.

I could respect him because I’ve seen his films and I trust him as a storyteller. If he would not have been that kind of director then I would have felt concerned.

For the screenplay it was necessary for me to behave as a peculiar mind. Because his behaviour matters a lot, that’s why I was completely resilient on the director. It also gives you the chance to break your own mold. That’s sometimes you break your own take on the role, you break of your own preparation so that it becomes you. So that’s when the director tells you ‘no go this way’ so this gives you the chance to break your own mold. That’s sometimes fun, like Mira Nair she sometimes asks you ‘I want this’ and it challenges you, like in ‘The Namesake’ I never wanted to do this accent, but she insisted. For 10 days I just moved on and she said ‘just do it’ so this just challenge you.

Thank you very much.

Thank you.

“Billu Barber” is out now in cinemas worldwide.

Grow Jalapeno Peppers – Getting Them Started

<img alt=""jalapeno"" src="http://farm1.staticflickr.com/33/60672500_0dd4431cf3_m.jpg" width="160"/>
by ilmungo

When you are going to grow jalapeno peppers, be aware that there are a lot of varieties. Some of these may be more suited to the region you live in. Jalapenos are native to the south west region but can be grown most anywhere with proper care. They really are not that difficult to grow by following some simple tips.

The cheapest way to get started growing them is by seeds. If you live in the cold north, obviously start early indoors so when the temperatures are right outdoors you can transplant your small plants. Otherwise buy your plants at a garden center when available, this is the easiest way to for many.

Once you have them outside in your garden or in pots, do not over water. You can let the soil dry out some between waterings, avoiding over watering to prevent the roots from rotting. Some people will wait till the leaves of mature plants are slightly wilted before watering. It is OK to give your plants a little fertilizer but stop once the flowers appear.

How do you know they are ready to pick? The peppers can be picked at any stage of growth but they taste better when they are at full size. A fully ripe pepper is one that has turned red. When you see your pepper start to get a pattern developing on the skin, this is what many consider the time to pick them for good flavor. The fully red ones may have a sweeter taste but are still hot.

Wendy’s Old Fashioned Burgers is one of today’s most popular fast food chains founded in 1969 by Dave Thomas. Nowadays, Wendy’s has around 6,600 places all around the globe and it is considered as the 3rd biggest burger fast food chain globally. Around 70 percent of Wendy’s restaurants are currently franchised. Whilst Wendy’s currently sets the criteria to its worldwide operations, food menu as well as good quality, individual franchise’s proprietors have total control over interior decor, work hours, staff uniforms, prices and salary. The Wendy’s food menu is typically made up of chicken sandwiches, hamburgers, fries, and beverages. Wendy’s might not have a signature recipe such as Whopper or Big Mac, however the square patties used for the sandwiches are deemed as their particular trademark item. The particular Wendy’s chili recipe can be an effective side meal comprised of good meat, rich sauce and plenty of soluble fiber.

Recipes with chili is always well loved, thus dishes like Wendy’s, as well as good quality Jambalaya recipe, are wonderful within the cool winter time. You can actually make your own Wendy Chili. By using this copycat formula, it’s simple to cook a more healthy version of the chili with no pre-made recipes and additional calories. Wendy’s always upgrade their chili recipe. But this specific variation here is a superb copy of this chili. For a more appetizing dish, you can top this chili recipe with onion leaves and cheddar cheese. In this meal, you’ll need a couple of pounds ground beef, one 29 ounce of tomato sauce, a single 29 ounce pinto beans (together with liquid within it), one 29 ounce kidney beans, a cup full of diced onion, half a cupful of diced green chili, three medium-sized tomato vegetables (chopped), 2 teaspoons cumin powder, fraction cup of diced celery, 3 tablespoons chili powder, a couple of teaspoons salt, 1 1/2 teaspoons of black pepper and two cups water.

Heat the skillet to medium heat. Saut? the ground beef inside the pan until it turns into golden brown. The fatty oil should be removed after. Having a fork, crumble the beef into pea sized parts. Combine all the remaining ingredients in a huge pot. Bring to simmer using low heat. Every 15 mins , you need to stir it in order for it not to stick at the bottom of the pot. Gradually cook for two or three hrs. Feel free to add black pepper if you want it to be extra hot. If you wish that to be more spicy, you may even put 1 / 2 teaspoon of black pepper and also a teaspoon of cayenne. And if you want it to be a total stinger, add five to six sliced jalapeno peppers to the pot. This menu can make about twelve helpings. If there some leftover you can store for months.

The Wendy’s chili recipe is likewise a simple crock pot meal. You can use the exact same ingredients for slow cooker. If you use dried out beans, our recommendation is that you simmer the beans in boiling h2o for about thirty minutes. After boiling the beans, turn off the heat and let it soak in the solution for another 90 minutes. Remove the beans and add to your pot. Now you can put in all the ingredients and cook it for 10 hours or until the beans are soft ( low heat).

A big Wendy’s chili menu about 340 grams includes 310 calories, 9 grams total fat, 3.5 saturated fat, 1330 mg sodium, 10 grams soluble fiber and 26 grams of health proteins. This is a perfect bled of beef, corn syrup, veggie and other spices as well. You could alternate ground beef by using something much less fatty like turkey meats or chicken. Dinners can be experienced in your own home with Wendy’s recipes and Olive Garden recipes that can be found online.

HOMEMADE HOT SAUCE

Have you ever wanted to make your very own homemade-hot-wing sauce? Maybe you might think that Frank’s hot sauce isn’t enough for your taste buds or even your wings… Maybe you’re dissatisfied with the sauces you have tried in the past and now you have come to the conclusion that you should make your own… That’s right… Your very own HOT SAUCE… Well… I agree.

So how do you make your own sauce?

The first ingredient you need is the pepper. This is THE KEY ingredient. I’m cutting to the chase here. Why? Because it will determine how hot your sauce will be.

For example some peppers are: Jalapenos, Chili peppers, Scotch Bonnet, Bhut Jolokia, Red Savina, Caballerros, Tabasco, and many others. Of course, these peppers vary in heat levels; some are mild, hot, or even down-right deadly.

The choice is yours when you decide what pepper to use and how HOT you want your sauce to be.

The next ingredient is Vinegar–any kind of vinegar will do. It’s completely up to you; distilled or not-you choose.

Then you will need oil; preferably a virgin oil, and of course in small amounts.

So at this point you’re thinking… I already know this… why am I still reading this… You know why? Because now comes the MAGIC…

Additional ingredients: (Examples)GarlicBasilSafronThymeOnionSaltPepperOther Peppers

ETC…. anything else you can think of. You’re the Chef. So get creative here with the additional ingredients… Use any combination you want.

Technique:

You have several options here… You can: 1) Place all the ingredients in a glass bottle, close the top and place under the sun outside for like days; 2) Slow Boil all the ingredients together in light water for 30minutes; let it cool over night and then bottle it up; or 3) Combine both techniques together. The choice is yours.

Any Doubts?

Have any doubts about this? Then try my homemade hot wing sauce called “Buck Shot Hot Sauce” at http://www.buckshothotsauces.com

This is a buffalo wing sauce that is hot and kicks Frank’s hot sauce’s A**! Now how can I possibly make that claim? Because buck shot hot sauce will enhance the flavor of anything you put it on… Even Rubber Tires!!!

Legal Disclaimer: It is not recommended in any way to place, put, or sauce anything made of rubber with buck shot hot sauce or any other hot sauce for that matter. And by the way, it is illegal in 24 states; however, if you’re in the remaining 26 states and chewing on anything that is made of rubber it would be unlikely to be very pleasant anyway.

But wait…

There’s more information you need…

If your homemade hot wing sauce turns out as great as mine then sell it. That’s right. Sell it. First, incorporate your business like I did.

For example: I incorporated my hot wing sauce and bottled it up under “Think Hot Peppers Inc.” And you can do the same… Just research the requirements in your state. It cost me around $ 70 to do this and now I’m in local restaurants in my neighborhood…

And one last thing…

You can learn how to make other sauces like I have. Bottle it up; incorporate your company; and I’ll see you in the marketplace. Just Click Here!

Make your own BBQ sauce. Just Click Here!

The Red Hot Chili Peppers appeared at the Reading Festival (at that time known as the Carling Festival) on Saturday, August 25, 2007 in what would turn out to be a night to remember.

One could be forgiven for thinking that not only the band name was aflame with red hot chili, but also the floor on which they played reverberated with the capsaicin of some of the hottest chillies in the world. Imagine something along the lines of the Holy Mole Pepper, Habanero or at least, the Dorset Naga, which makes the others pale by comparison and you have the idea.

The Dorset Naga Chilli has to be handled literally with kid gloves and it would seem that Anthony Kiedis that night was stomping barefoot on it – for no sooner had the beating of the band begun to “Can’t Stop” than Kiedis was jumping up and down as if his feet were aflame.

Unfortunately for the band, Kiedis leapt onto an electric cable. The resultant loud buzz from the sound system echoed across the crowd and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers with red hot faces, struggled to keep their cool.

Band members Flea and Chad Smith did their best to fill in that awkward silence, much as one would joke with embarrassment after spilling tea into someones lap. Tea? I meant hot chilli, pardon me.

A technician came forward and solved the problem much to everyone’s delight and the band tried to play on with “Can’t Stop” but they were not synchronized and flustered. Someone! Cool us down!’ One could hear them thinking as “Can’t Stop” did stop yet again.

The sounds of boos and “Turn it up!” echoed from the crowd. Some people were becoming impatient, feeling that since they had paid a small fortune for their tickets they were entitled to a better performance. Others were enraptured by the way the band recovered again, and again – and again.

Band member John Frusciante was the hero, pulling the flustered band together to start in unison and “Can’t Stop” started up once more.

Despite the best intentions of the Red Hot Chilli Peppers that night, things seemed to be working steadily against them. Before long, the loud buzzing inexplicably resounded again. Frusciante, emboldened by his ability to get the band synchronized quickly a short while before, pulled at every switch he could see until the buzzing ceased, as a child when it stops misbehaving – and the band finally finished “Can’t Stop” with much aplomb after their fourth attempt.

The problems the band experienced with their sound system were restored but Kiedis, however, had not completed his round of mishaps, falling over twice – once over Chad Kit’s drums, bouncing back up and managing to keep the crowd amused by pretending to shine the drum set.

One cannot wonder at the fact that Anthony Kiedis removed his shirt as he left the floor as their performance ended. He was HOT!

Pepper Spray – An old, non lethal self defense product!

Pepper spray is one of the old non lethal self defense products that has for years been used as a weapon of self defense. Pepper Spray is also known as OC Spray (The full form of OC is Oleoresin capsicum) and is derived from a certain class of plants called Capsicum.

Chilli Pepper Spray is used widely for a variety of self defense purposes!

Out of the different types of pepper sprays the most common one is chilli pepper. The main ingredient present in chilly pepper spray is Capsaicin that produces a burning sensation in any human tissue that it touches. Capsaicin has the natural capability to irritate humans so the pepper spray made from it is used widely for a variety of self defense purposes.

For example, the police uses chilly pepper spray to disperse rowdy crowds. For the police this spray is an effective, non lethal weapon with which they are able to control crowds, no matter how unruly they might be. Similarly, chilli pepper spray is also used for subduing bears.

The history of Pepper Sprays dates back several hundred years.

Pepper Sprays were used by the ancient Chinese people to ward off enemies. The Chinese invented a very interesting way of scaring away their enemies. They used to grind up peppers and this preparation was then thrown in to the eyes of the enemies. In this way the Chinese were able to blind their enemies.

The Japanese too used pepper for self defense. Japanese ninjas used ground pepper to weaken their opponents. During the times of Japan’s Tukagawa Empire a box known as “metsubishi” was used by the police. It was a sort of political torture wherein the police used the box to blow pepper in to the eyes of people who opposed the rulers.

Pepper Sprays were also used as Animal Repellents. In the 1980s Postal Services the world over started to use Pepper Sprays to repel dogs. In America the idea of Pepper Spray as a weapon of self defense picked steam in the 1990s. Pepper spray was endorsed by the FBI and according to them this spray was a safe crowd deterrent. This endorsement by the FBI encouraged the police to try Pepper Spray for dispersing mischief creating crowds.

Pepper spray is a natural repellent that can be used effectively to disable a person or an animal. The best thing about this substance is that it doesn’t cause any serious harm to the person on which it is sprayed.

Funny quotes - People often say that motivation doesn’t last. Well, neither does bathing – that’s why we recommend it daily.

Motivational inspirational quotes - The best measure of a man’s honesty isn’t his income tax return. It’s the zero adjust on his bathroom scale.

Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds.

When you are courting a nice girl an hour seems like a second. When you sit on a red-hot cinder a second seems like an hour. That’s relativity.

Motivational inspirational quotes There are two ways of meeting difficulties: you alter the difficulties or you alter yourself meeting them.

Funny quotes about life Every evening I turn my worries over to God.

He’s going to be up all night anyway.

Opportunityis always knocking. The problem is that most people have the self-doubt station in their head turned up way too loud to hear it.

“I’ve missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.”

Funny quotes - “It doesn’t matter what you are doing, it only matters if you know how to get out of it.”

When I was young I was called a rugged individualist. When I was in my fifties I was considered eccentric. Here I am doing and saying the same things I did then and I’m labeled senile.

The difference between an optimist and a pessimist is that an optimist thinks this is the best possible world. A pessimist fears that this is true.

Kites rise against, not with the wind. No man has ever worked his passage anywhere in a dead calm.

The best measure of a man’s honesty isn’t his income tax return. It’s the zero adjust on his bathroom scale.

Motivational inspirational quotes - The key that unlocks energy is desire. It’s also the key to a long and interesting life. If we expect to create any drive, any real force within ourselves, we have to get excited.

All the problems become smaller if you don’t dodge them, but confront them. Touch a thistle timidly, and it pricks you; grasp it boldly, its spines crumble.

The best part about procrastination is that you are never bored, because you have all kinds of things that you should be doing.

Many of us spend half our time wishing for things we could have if we didn’t spend half our time wishing.

The surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that it has never tried to contact us.

Life begins at 40 – but so do fallen arches, rheumatism, faulty eyesight, and the tendency to tell a story to the same person, three or four times.

If something’s hard to do, then it’s not worth doing.

Between the optimist and the pessimist, the difference is droll. The optimist sees the doughnut; the pessimist the hole!

Quotes - The man who is a pessimist before forty-eight knows too much; if he is an optimist after it he knows too little

Nice to be here? At my age it’s nice to be anywhere.

Honor isn’t about making the right choices. It’s about dealing with the consequences.

Desire is the starting point of all achievement, not a hope, not a wish, but a keen pulsating desire which transcends everything.
